Breast Surgery, Including Breast Augmentation with Breast Implants - Bethesda, Maryland and Washington, DC

Soft, full curves define the female body, making it feminine. Many women wish they could enhance their breasts to look fuller or more flattering. At The Practice of Dr. Roger J. Oldham, we understand how important this need is. Dr. Roger J. Oldham is a board certified plastic surgeon with many years experience performing breast augmentation for Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Bethesda, Maryland patients. Using the highest quality breast implants, Dr. Oldham combines skill, caring, and artistic vision to give each breast augmentation patient the full, shapely breasts she desires and help her feel more feminine in her body.

Breast Augmentation

Choosing to have a fuller figure through breast augmentation has helped many women feel more confident and feminine in their bodies. Dr. Oldham creates beautiful, natural breast augmentation results in harmony with both your natural figure and your wishes. He can help you achieve the figure that’s right for you.

Dr. Oldham performs breast augmentation for Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Bethesda, Maryland patients using premium quality breast implants. He uses saline (sterile salt water) breast implants of varying shapes and sizes, and will help you select the appropriate breast implant. He is also among the plastic surgeons in the country with special approval to perform breast augmentation with silicone gel breast implants for qualifying patients.

Incision placement is something Dr. Oldham will discuss with you in detail to determine the best approach for your surgery. There are several methods of implant placement. The most common approaches are in the crease beneath the breast or along the edge of the areola (the dark area surrounding the nipple). All approaches leave a small incision line, but artful placement of the incision will ensure the visibility is negligible. The breast augmentation method chosen for you will depend on your specific anatomy and preferences.

For patients looking to correct drooping breasts as well as to add fullness, Dr. Oldham may recommend a combined breast augmentation and breast lift procedure. The breast implants provide the additional fullness while the breast lift repositions the breasts higher on the chest and removes excess tissue.

Dr. Oldham would be happy to evaluate your individual circumstances and explain your breast augmentation options. To learn more about breast augmentation in the Washington, DC, and Bethesda, Maryland area – or about breast implants – contact The Practice of Dr. Roger J. Oldham today.

Breast Lift

Pregnancy, nursing, and the effects of time and gravity can all affect a woman’s breasts, causing them to droop or lose volume. A woman with once shapely breasts may feel less womanly or confident about her body as a result. Unfortunately, only surgery can correct this problem.

Breast lift is designed to raise the breast and nipple to a higher, more esthetic position on the chest and remove excess tissue. The surgery can also help in cases where the areola has become enlarged from stretching.

Typically, the incisions in a breast lift are placed around the areola and then continue down to the inframammary crease below the breast. Incision lines fade over time. Patients are very gratified with the return of the youthful figure they previously enjoyed.

Breast Lift and Augmentation

A breast lift can also be combined with breast augmentation surgery for women looking for both a lift and a fuller figure. If you are interested in a breast lift, or a combined lift with breast augmentation, contact our Washington, DC area practice in Bethesda, Maryland today.

Breast Reduction

While full breasts are lovely, overly large or heavy breasts may be less esthetic and often cause strain on a woman’s neck and back. Many women have lived with discomfort or pain for years, not realizing that breast reduction surgery could bring profound improvement to their quality of life.

Breast reduction surgery reduces the size and weight of a woman’s breasts and esthetically repositions the nipple. The surgery can bring immediate improvement to posture as well as relief of back, neck, and shoulder pain. Women who have undergone breast reduction report feeling more comfortable, better able to exercise, and more attractive in their clothing and their skin.

Like breast lift surgery, breast reduction may result in visible incision lines. Each breast reduction surgery is different, however, and Dr. Oldham will evaluate your individual situation to advise you of the best surgical approach and explain what incisions are necessary. Breast Implant Removal

Occasionally, a woman who has previously undergone breast augmentation may decide she wants her breast implants removed or exchanged for a different size implant. Lifestyle changes, age, or weight gain later in life may contribute to this decision.

Many women fear that removal of their breast implants will result in a deformed appearance. This does not have to be the case with a skilled plastic surgeon. Although changes in breast shape invariably occur with most women over time, removal of breast implants will leave the breasts in essentially the same shape they would have been in if implants had never been used. Dr. Oldham brings his many years of plastic surgery training and experience to breast implant removal, ensuring esthetic and natural looking results for each woman.

If you are thinking about breast implant removal and would like to discuss the procedure with Dr. Oldham, he would be happy to meet with you. Contact us in Bethesda, Maryland, to learn more about the removal of breast implants or to set up a consultation.

Breast Reconstruction

For some breast cancer patients, a surgical removal of one of both breasts is the only effective treatment option. Women who must undergo a mastectomy must also decide whether they will complete their treatment with a breast reconstruction. Breast reconstruction allows women to restore a natural-looking shape and size to their breasts without the use of prosthetic padding.

Dr. Oldham will work with your breast surgeon to design a surgery that best meets your desired outcomes. Thanks to advanced surgical techniques and the diverse implant options available, reconstructed breasts can closely mimic the look and feel of your natural breasts and help you maintain your feminine contours and self-confidence.
