Closed Rhinoplasty Procedure in Bethesda with Dr. Oldham

Dr. Roger J. Oldham is a board certified plastic surgeon with more than 25 years of experience performing facial rejuvenation plastic surgery for Bethesda area patients.  Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) is one of Dr. Oldham’s most practiced surgeries.  When patients in Bethesda want changes made to the size or shape of their nasal structure, Dr. Oldham delivers.  Dr. Oldham produces incredible results through the use of a closed rhinoplasty procedure which minimizes scarring, maximizes results, and limits recovery time post-operatively.

Plastic surgeons are always trying to develop surgical techniques that maximize results.  As such, some have developed what is called an open rhinoplasty procedure whereby an incision across the columella (the vertical skin column separating the two nostrils) is made and the nasal skin is pulled away from the cartilage of the nasal tip so that surgeons can see directly see the process.  While some surgeons prefer this method, it unfortunately causes more swelling and bruising post-operatively and could leave a scar along the columnella. Closed rhinoplasty, the approach practiced by Dr. Oldham for more than 25 years, is performed through the nostril without any external incisions and that means minimized external scarring.  Dr. Oldham and other surgeons who perform closed rhinoplasty are confident that they can see the internal structures very well as they operate using specialized instruments and lighting techniques.  As an additional benefit, Dr. Oldham can quite literally see the shape of the nose as it changes during surgery, allowing him to achieve precise results according to his patients’ expectations. The control allowed to surgeons during a closed rhinoplasty is why so many surgeons continue to use it.  Just look at these results of patients before and after closed rhinoplasty with Dr. Oldham.
