Blepharoplasty Surgery in Bethesda Maryland: Recovery Time? Before and After?

Dr. Roger J. Oldham, a board-certified plastic surgeon, has been performing blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) in the Bethesda area for dozens of patients each year. Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is lifting and reshaping of the upper and/or lower eyelids that may have lost firmness or skin elasticity due to aging, stress, and other individual factors. Patients seeking blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) have many questions about surgery including the price, cost/benefit ratio, and the effects visible in before and after photos. Dr. Oldham shares his experience with patients during their 30-minute personal consultation.

Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift or eyelid surgery) with Dr. Roger J. Oldham lasts about 1 ½ hours for the upper and lower eyelids, and can alleviate the adverse effects of hanging and loose skin of the upper lids and puffy bags of the lower lids. Recovery time after your blepharoplasty is very limited compared to other plastic surgery procedures. After your blepharoplasty, pain is usually minimal or non-existent, and is easily controlled with extra-strength Tylenol, or mild prescription pain medication. Showering can begin after 2 days, contact lens use can resume after 1-2 days, and for women, make-up can be applied after 5 days. Patients who have had a blepharoplasty are able to return to work as soon as they are comfortable with their appearance, but people who work at home find they are able to do so the next day; bruising is variable, lasting from 5 days to 2 weeks, and swelling is usually 80% resolved after two weeks.
