Before your plastic surgery operation, what should you know? Dr. Roger J. Oldham of Bethesda answers.

Dr. Roger J. Oldham, a board-certified plastic surgeon, has been serving men and women of the Washington DC area for 25+ years. Patients seeking plastic surgery can find surgical excellence with Dr. Roger J. Oldham, cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeon. Dr. Roger J. Oldham is an attending surgeon at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, Maryland, and Sibley Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Before your elective plastic surgery with Dr. Roger J. Oldham or any plastic surgeon in the Bethesda area, patients are advised to ensure that their body is in a healthy state andthey are mentally prepared. Whether you’re scheduled for a breast reduction, nose job (rhinoplasty, nose surgery), forehead lift, facelift/neck lift, or a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), it is important to be aware of pre-operational recommendations. Since aspirin can cause bleeding, it is important to avoid aspirin and medications which contain aspirin for at least seven days before surgery and for two days after surgery. Other non-aspirin medication which can cause bleeding and need to be stopped three days prior and two days after surgery include: Motrin, Advil, Nuprin, and Aleve. Even daily multi-vitamin supplements should be examined for presence of Vitamin E which can cause bleeding. The American Society of Anesthesiologists advises patients to stop taking all herbal products two weeks before surgery to avoid possible side effects. So if you’re scheduled for plastic surgery—be it breast augmentation/breast implants, chin augmentation, liposuction, or blepharoplasty (eyelid lift surgery)—make sure your body is in its best shape to undergo general anesthesia. Dr. Roger J. Oldham is available for consultations in his Bethesda plastic surgery practice if you’re considering any one of these procedures for your body shape and your self esteem. Decades of Dr. Oldham's patients are glad they called.

In his Bethesda, Maryland practice and surgery center, Dr. Oldham sees patients from Maryland, Washington DC, and Northern Virginia. Maryland, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Kensington, Potomac, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Silver Spring, Northern Virginia, Great Falls, Fairfax, Reston, McLean, Arlington, and Washington DC.
